What if Atlantis had a room that could shift you to another dimension were they sercetly kept all there best technology, surely the best city ever built will have the best way of keeping stuff hiden from there enemies if the city got taken over. It would only work for people with the gene like just like most ancient tech does and to people without it would just look like a empty old room.
Whats your thoughts on this i havent seen Arthurs Mantle but from what ive read Merlin hid a weapon in another dimension so maybe the Ancients used this kind of hiding technique before?

i think merlin himself thought up this way to hide weapons he came from atlantis so its doubgful there is a room created for this, however merlin may have installed something like that in his personal quarters

I dont think they said Merlin came from Atlantis , But if he did he wouldnt have had no reason to hide his stuff . Remeber he didnt know about the Ori tell they ascended.
I would like to see them use more of there personly shield that Mckay found in season 1 .
Merlin left atlantis 10 000 years ago, he created the weapon in middle ages. so I doupt he went back. Also he created the weapon out of fase but after it was finisht it took it to our dimentsion. And hid it some were.
Heres a question about Alterans personal shield. Mckay said that it was something alterans were working on. As I get it it was a prototype. Also Goa`uld have stoled and retro fited theyr tech with what ever tech they have found. So it is possible that the Alteran personal shield was the bases of Goa`uld personal shield. My point is why was it a prototype? It was more poverful then anything goa`uld have and it seemd to work fine. Not to mention how useful it would be against the wraith. But I guess thats the main reason the writers told it was prototype. WIERD

Goa'uld shields work in a completely different way, so I doubt they are related. And to be more specific, in case you want to look it up, Daniel found Merlin's name on a list of people who came from Atlantis in the first episode of season 9.

Whats your point? I said Merlin left 10 000 years ago from Atlantis.
Also How is it different from Alteran shield the purpose is the same only Goa`uld sheild can be penetrated by slower moving objects when Alteran shield stops anything from bullet to fist. What I was saing was that it is possible that Goa`ulds found one of those shields and figured out what it was and from that got the idea for theyr shield same thing just less advanced.

i dont think that the goa'uld found this shields, mckay described it as an extra skin, the goa'uld shield mearly generates a field not wrapped around anything particular, if it was a prototype i would have thought it probably was developed in atlantis and was left behind

My point is the information about Merlin coming from Atlantis is in the first episode of that season, pretty self explanatory.
And to say one shield was inspired by another is like saying Russians got the idea for Vodka from water, because thier both clear and you can drink them. They are COMPLETELY different technologies, and there is no evidence to suggest a Goa'uld would even know Atlantis actually existed.

the Goa'uld didnt know Atlantis existed, untill 1 year after the Atlantis team got there, and then it was the trust that found out (who have been taked over as hosts i believe)
