Guils wars ofcourse. As far as sci-fi goes, nothing really comes to mind that is free. I tried out a beta for a new one called Dark Space. That has to be the worst game I've ever played. It looks like it was made in like 1995. Anyway, hard to find a good free MMO especially a sci-fi orientated one.

As far as sci-fi mmo's in general go, theres always EVE. But their population seems to be dropping so I don't think you'd want to pay for that.

Guild Wars is your best bet for no monthly fees.

It'll tide you over to Tabula Rasa which looks amazing XD (Monthly Fee)

Or Sci-Fi you could try RF Online (Monthly Fee) - But I haven't heard too much good about it, it wasn't that fun when I was playing.

you CAN use real money to get ingame money and if you get lots of profit you can get it back out...

interesting it was nice 2 years ago the graphics got older i think i havn't played it in a long time, there's housing some conquest and hunting, mining etc
(mining is nice :))

you should give it a try altoug its hard to get around if you don't put any money in it, but i did it without once, had a job as a seller for some guy, got lots of profit out of it :)

other features are lots of buisiness opertunities(even make adds that can be placed on addboards troug out the city to get yourself some advertisement)
shops can also be bought, as can houses and lands.

its quite nice and does a pretty good job simulating aspects of real life in some kind of futuristic enviroment

Don't go down the RF online route, unless you like games with monimal content that are a grind fest. There are 60 levels (i think) and you only get one quest per level, the rest is grinding. Well, that's how they like it in Korea I suppose.

EVE always has a 14 day trial going on, you should try it. You might like it, get hooked and be happy paying $15 per month :D

Yeah I never bothered more than an hour or so with RF Online, it just wasn't my thing even though it was Sci-Fi..Oh how I longed for a good sci-fi one.

You could just freeze yourself until SGW comes out XD

Ive tried Eve Online three times before and never stayed any longer than 4 or 5 weeks at a clip.

Ive tried Project Entropia but the graphics kinda killed it for me.

Dont you have to pay for the key to Guild Wars?

My question is who came up with the $15/month price is ok? Most of the games out there now that charge $15 I dont see the value there; beside most charge a lot for adventure packs,expansions and ect. So besides the $150+ a year I have to pay I have to pay another $50 plus to keep advancing my chacter. Comeon...

I have accounts on both Tibia and Runescape, on Runscape I got chatted up within five minutes of being there, then insulted, then I realised that there were a lot of PKers and decided not to play.

Tibia... I keep making new characters lol, I never get out of Rookgard, then I got bored and there were just too many people acting like idiots and making peoples life miserable (the old chairs-down-the-hole trick ~_~).

The best Free MMOs I've played are Maple Story and Silkroad Online. Maple Story is a pretty cool 2D thing with a platformer type thing going on, it's not exactly a big world though. (But it does take a long time to get level ups) I have accounts on most of the servers but stopped playing becauase my monitor won't go to a low enough resolution (640x480)

As for Silkroad... Uhm, pretty cool thing based in ancient China (though it supposedly expands to India and Europe,) has awesome graphics and I'm told the interface is pretty much the WoW interface with a new skin on it, it works pretty well. Even the China section of the map (ie what I can see so far) is huge, so I'd imagine there's a lot of places to go yet. The big letdown (and the only one imho, though others may disagree) is the initial download and patching.

Neither are sci-fi based, but they are freeee, (though they have "money-for-items" extras).

yea I gotta agree... first the graphics are aweful, and the only way to make money is to spend it (course that could be said with any game...:rolleyes: ) If I remember correctly you don't even start with any form of weapon... walk outside the compond (they weren't very big, quite easy to leave without even reallizing) and your dead

nah the trick is to find someone that will allow you to sell there items for a amount of money, and you get all the profit you make on it if you can sell it for more :).

if you can build a good relationship with someone like that you can get quite some good money...and alot of people are looking for such a "seller"
and the selling thing is also alot less boring then sweating cause sweating really sucks :D

but you are right tough, i also gave up after a while because its still kind of hard, but if you get lucky once and get major loot, you can go every way you want :)

but well anyway, there are alot of free mmorpg's out there you should check some mmorpg sites and you might find a list.

hmm i sold some of that newbie armor for someone and i got profits of 5 ped per piece of armor, and i sold alot :D

but well i guess you really have to put in some money, but there are some nice profitable things in the game, you can rent houses, or buy pieces of land and put on houses on that. and sell them, and you can put you're profit back on you're normal bank account :)

but its really hard without putting any money in :)
