Default Wormhole animation

Will there be a wormhole animation in SGW? I don't mean the kawoosh nor the event horizon, im talking about the animation when you go through the gate.
I would welcome this, but if you havent implemented this, its not really a problem, but it is eyecandy and it is a part of stargate

I wouldn't mind seeing that animation sequence being used as a load screen.

I think there was some small mention during something, like a Dev chat, about the loading screen and how they are looking into it as a possibility.

Do you guys like the old or new style of travelling through the stargate?

I liked the older version myself, but I don't mind the newer version either.

What Lis said again. It was discussed a while back about some sort of animation. Not sure how it ended though. But would be nice to see

The full length version was the best, but I can understand why they didnt want to waste time on the shows having it every single time. I just love the little whoosh sound effect at the end, lol.

Yes the full length one was pretty cool, used a few times if I recall.

I remember back in the early days of the internet, sg1 had their site up, and I downloaded the small file of the extended gate travel, forget if there was sfx. Since it wasn't my computer though, it was gone. But I found it again (By someone here) and have it on my comp at home, though this version definately has no sfx.

I agree with Cyaneyed as well. The full length is cool, especially in the movie, but it does eat up time in TV shows.

Maybe perhaps include an option in the Options window to check on or off the full animation during load times when stepping through the gate? When Off is checked, just have a static image with a load bar at the bottom. The image could be the planet your gating to I suppose.

Thoughts?

Me too. I wonder what we'd have for non-gating load screens though? I mean like, say you're on a planet, that isn't instanced, and enter an instance on that planet. Just a graphic or something more innovative?

If I can recall, Halo 2 did a load screen that moves until the loading is finished, even if its in the middle as there really is no end to the animation. In the case of SGW, there would have to be an end, so if the load screen finishes before the animation is done, then it can back to your character that has just traveled to a new world, otherwise, perhaps after showing the full animation, there could be some adition imaged screen, or something.

I get tired of the loading bar myself, and its not like not knowing how many seconds left will affect my life, I mean, the game will still load in the end.

Perhaps the "loading bar" can be the distance from gate to gate in the wormhole, that when you get to the other end, loading would finish.

Though of course that would mean that the game would have to detect how many seconds etc left, to update the animation, but I imagine that would take up lots of ram.

Hmm, just to be really geeky for a second, isn't it actually physically impossible to see the wormhole travel, since all matter is reduced to its minimum whilst between both gates? There'd actually be no logical way of recording what it looked like to travel through it, and you'd have no memory of the time between stepping in and out...

But I'm just being a geek lol. It's an artistic impression of what it'd be like and I love the animation =D

I like the version of the stargate movie (1994), when Daniel Jackson stepped through the event horizon, and you can see at the other side, how he is molecularized
Yeah, it would be cool, if the wormhole animation is an option

I dont see why they couldnt use the video for the loading screen and for the people saying what if the video wasnt long enough they would just have to find a way to make it loop well.

I think use the old version for SG-1 areas, and when/if Atlantis areas are added use the new one, you know to kinda be a visual indicator of the transition.

The loading bar shows its actually loading and not frozen or crashed or whatever else. Like on one mmo ( can't remember which one) there was a loading screen bug and if the bar got stuck at a certain point you could pretty much always just Alt+F4 it.
