Frequently Asked Beta Questions
**Please do not PM/IM/Email/Skype/Poke/Stab/Call tkksnow unless you have read the complete FAQ and are sure that there is no other option.**
General Information About the Beta
A beta is a limited release of software to a group of beta testers whose primary goal is to discover bugs and provide feedback to developers. This process will ensure a high quality final release of the game. The beta is not limited to people living in the US. If accepted into Beta, you will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). You cannot tell anyone you are in beta, and you cannot release any information that is NDA protected. You must be of 18 years age or older to participate in beta due to legal requirements of the NDA.

1) When Does the Beta Start?
The most recently announced plans for the beta release are as follows:
Friends and Family Alpha: Ended
Closed Beta: Has not started yet
Open Beta: 2010 (This depends on how closed Beta progresses)
These are plans only, and are subject to change. Check the Beta Status Update thread for the most recent information.

2) How do I Register for the Beta?
In order to be invited into the beta you must officially Register Here. After registration you will be sent an e-mail confirmation. If you do not receive this e-mail, check question #7 of this FAQ for help. Registration does not guarantee entrance into the beta.
*please note that your regular forum account and your beta account are distinct. Details here.
3) I'm having problems choosing a beta user name!
Your beta user name should be something you remember, and will be used on the beta forum. You may get an error if your name has already been taken. In addition you cannot use special characters, for example: ò æ ô ƒ Ñ or ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ). You may be able to create a user name with these characters, but you will not be able to login with them. Also note that you cannot use spaces in your user name at this point in time. If you need to sign up for another account because you used one of these characters, please choose a different e-mail address for your second account.

4) How will beta testers be selected?
Beta testers are selected in a number of different ways:
  1. Random selection from the the pool of beta registrations.
  2. Selection based on your dxdiag file uploaded to your account.
  3. Participating in forum or fan-site beta key giveaways.

Please Note: PMing a developer, community manager or moderator asking for a beta invite (or creating a thread to that effect) will only hamper your efforts to be accepted into beta.
5a) How will I know if I have been accepted into the beta?

- You will receive an email welcoming you to the beta.

5b) How does the authentication process work?

The authentication procedure is as follows:
1) You will be sent an e-mail informing your that you have been accepted into the beta including a link to a page which will confirm your invitation.
2) After confirming, an e-mail will then be sent to you which will direct you to the final authentication page. This e-mail may take up to an hour to arrive. If you do not receive your confirmation e-mail after several hours, e-mail community (AT) firesky.com.
3) You should now be able to log into the main beta page and download the client.
6) I own a Stargate/MMO/Command fansite, can I have some beta invites to give away in a contest or something similar?
Send an e-mail to community (AT) firesky.com inquiring about it.

7a) How can I be sure that I receive beta e-mails?
7b) I did not receive my registration confirmation e-mail after registering!

Some people have reported difficulties receiving beta-related e-mails. You should have received an authentication e-mail within an hour of registering for beta. If you are not receiving e-mails, there are some steps you can take.

- If you have a Hotmail account, the spam safe-list is located in Options > Junk E-mail Protection > Safe List.
- If you have a GMail or Yahoo account, you can create a filter that will ensure that e-mail from cheyenneme.com is redirected to the Inbox.
-- For GMail, go to Settings > Filters. Create a new filter and enter "cheyenneme.com" into the From field. Click next and select: "Never send it to spam", and then press Create Filter.
-- For Yahoo, go to Options > Management > Filters. Add a new filter and set the from field to end with "cheyenneme.com". Under "Move message to" select Inbox and then press Add Filter.

**If you think you have lost the registration confirmation e-mail, you can request a re-send here. Note that it may take up to an hour to receive the e-mail.**
8) I've forgotten my beta password!
Not a problem. Head to the Beta Registration Website and go to reset password.
