Default FAQ From Community

I am plowing through the questions I got from you all here.

So please do not clutter this thread with more questions, this thread is specific and will not be derailed. I will do my best to get these out to you as fast as possible Ledaye will be helping me out as much as possible.

Quote:
1. Let¹s see some lore!!
2. Storyline presented in the form of a video build or dedicated section
on the website.
The setup for each of the archetypes is as follows: The SGC: with the defeat of the replicators and the Goa¹uld, there is a movement to close down Stargate Command. Without Woolsey¹s knowledge or consent, Hammond has begun an alliance of the Free Jaffa, the Asgard and the remnants of the SGC and called it the Stargate Union. The Free Jaffa are beginning their work prepping for elections and the creation of a government. The Asgard have begun secretly trying last-ditch efforts to stave off their inevitable death and also determine whether the humans are truly ready to become the fifth race.

The Praxis is made up of The4 New Mind Goa¹uld, the Loyalist Jaffa and Op-Core. The New Mind Goa¹uld. Children of Queen Anat, have begun to plan for their return to galactic power. The Loyalist Jaffa join them as a military arm, but are not slaves. Op-Core is freed from imprisonment on the Castle and warned of an impending doom from the future. Op-Core joins the Praxis because they promise to support Op-Core to defeat the threat from the future.

At the game¹s start, the Praxis is looking for ways to fight off the threat from the future. SGC is trying to figure out what the Praxis is doing, and Jack O¹Neill has gone missing.

3. We need some background story; we know you don't want to spoil the
story that we are going to enter in but we also know the story of sg1 seasons 1 - 8. What is going on in the beginning of the game?
4. Early on in the concept of SGW Orilla (asgard homeworld during the
timeline SGW is set in) was rumoured to be the ingame starting point for the asgard. Is this true? Can you give any info on where the Asgard start in our galaxy or Othala(their home galaxy)?
They start in a small out-of-the way base as they begin their tasks outlined above.

Quote:
5. Will Asgard have their own and separate overall Storyline or will they
simply have a beginning Asgard Storyline and then a mutual allied forces Storyline? Mainly speaking, would one be able to play an Asgard and be a successful "non-interference" character as we see in the series (Asgard elitists such as Hermiod which we see on the Daedalus), or will universal interaction and allied collaboration be thrust upon them?
Because of their tasks (see above) they must interact with the main storyline but they do have their own faction mission set.

Quote:
6. Will there be missions on or involving an asgard mother ship?
No, not a launch.

Quote:
7. What will be the role of the Archeologist in the end-game (raids, PVP
etc)?
Their role in PVP isn¹t set, but their role on raids is as it is in standard gameplay.

Quote:
8. Will Goa'uld be met with animosity or hatred from certain indigenous
people?
No one likes the Goa¹uld

Quote:
9. How about the loyal Jaffa¹s story? Why are they siding against the
false gods?
Because the Praxis alliance exists to a) defeat the threat from the future and b) restore the New Mind Goa¹uld to power. The New Mind Goa¹uld has made a deal with the Loyalists to share that power with the Jaffa and the leader of the Jaffa has made an agreement. The Jaffa have a great deal of power in this new arrangement because they have all the military power in the alliance.

1. We know from the series that Goa'uld heal faster than humans.
Will they be that way in-game and if so, will there be any precautions made so that the Goa'uld aren't overpowered? One example of that precaution would be giving them weaker armor to compensate for their healing abilities.

Currently, the only archetype that heals faster than humans is the Loyalist Jaffa. Balancing will dictate that, however.

Quote:
2. Will we able to use the Asgard beam as an ability?
The teleporter beam? No.
Quote:
3. Talent Tree information - images of proposed trees, skill lists (even just a few to confirm per each AT)
Not yet.

Quote:
4. How will the Ribbon Device be upgraded? ie. Will we be upgrading the device and have the same one for the whole game, or will we be purchasing/finding new ones?
New ones.

Quote:
5. Is the 'Disguise' ability 100% technologically based? Will we have to act like what we are disguising as? Also, we will be able to use more simple disguises, like robes and hoods?
You will look like the race you are disguised as. Yes, it is tech based.

Quote:
6. Will archaeologists have a special ability in which they look woefully at a very important artifact before smashing it over an enemy's head?
No.

Quote:
7. How do you plan on addressing the balancing of Goa'uld classes considering the Jaffa staff weapon was predominately portrayed in the tv series as an inferior weapon to the Human p90?
That’s an opinion, nothing more.

Quote:
8. Will Goa'ulds be able to use the torture's gloves we can see in the film and the series, and the health gloves?
The Goa’uld will torture.

Quote:
9. Are there any Asgard specific buffs or buffs that he can give to group?
Yet to be determined.

Quote:
10. Will archaeologists be able to uncover artifacts? (Basically asking if they will have some kind of foraging ability for use in certain areas)
No, they play mini-games with artifacts for XP and to translate them.

Quote:
1. We heard of Hebridan, Harset, Pen Lai, Beta site, Castle, Dakara,
Iphet Crater - but what about these lava worlds, and such?
a. Can we learn why we are going to these planets?
This is perhaps a most interesting question. One of the unique things about
our game is that everything relates to the story. You must understand what
story means to us. When I analyzed the show, I realized that the show was,
in reality, a character-based show with sci-fi clothing on. It wasn't really
a sci-fi show, meaning one centered on technology and the exploration of
technology. It was about the PEOPLE.

So, that meant to me that the game couldn't JUST be about leveling, or
fighting MOBs, or building stuff, but it had to be about the WHY of doing
what you're doing.

The WHY you do something in any game is what people call the 'story.' Too
often, however, 'story' gets confused with 'lore.' By 'lore' I mean the
history behind the game, what happened YESTERDAY. I don't care so much about
what happened YESTERDAY, after all, you can buy the DVDs to get that
question answered.

What I mean when I say story is WHY you are on any planet, what brought you
there. Now, see, for me to tell you WHY you are on any planet is to tell you
the story before you play it, and I'm just not going to do that, because the
story is so interesting that I'd rather have you experience it first-hand
rather than have me tell it to you. See, playing it is going to be much
better than reading it.

Ledaye adds to this:

Quote:
1. It was said that as an Archaeologist (and also Scientist) you will be
able to offer your services to other characters to solve minigames for them.
How will this exactly work? After finishing your job will you just gain
experience or will you also get some payment?
The way this will work is as follows: Players who offer their services to
solve mini-games for other players register at terminals in their home
cities. When a player in the field is challenged by a mini-game, he can a)
play it himself, b) send it off to an NPC to play it (Sam Carter or Nerus,
for example) or c) send it off to another player, one who has registered at
a terminal. NPCs charge a set amount to play the game, while other players
can set any fee they want (they can charge less for a guild member than
someone they don't know, for instance). An interface is brought up and the
interface lists the players available, their level, and what they would
charge.

You pick the player you want to try the game, and it appears on that other
players' screen. He plays the game (win or lose) and then the result is sent
back to you.
