Default Season 11?? hmm

Hey all, first post, this is probably old but I thought I would share it anyway.

The two tv movies are classified as Season 11:

Heh, yeah I guess you could call them season 11. They basically end the 2 major threads.

That's the only site that I am aware of to call it season 11.

Oh and welcome to the forums btw!

there is no season 11, the first movie is going to close out the ori idea from season 10 and the second movie is just a movie. so these movies are movies and not a season, im not sure why that site calls it a season

Am i the only one thinking that this is all just so the show gets a little more attention, and they are going to blow us all away when they notify us during the last of the movies, Season 11 SOON on HD TV on so and so Network.

They aren´t going to sneak in a season 11, sadly we will have to settle for the movies (of which there might be more then two).

We are however getting a new series which will hopefully be worth watching.

The fact that sg-1 is coming to it's end makes me so sad I wish there would be a few more seasons, but I'm geussing writing original content must be very hard after so many episodes.

Default Some more info

Just found this on GateWorld:

"['Unending' is] a great season-ender (I'd say series ender but, really, that's up to the fans -- so long as they keep supporting the ###'s, the longer we'll keep telling stories) that offers some truly poignant moments and finally offers up some major satisfaction for members of 'that' fan contingent."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi.)"

Perhaps they do plan to continue the series and do more seasons, if it was a series ender he would be much more specific than he is in this statement.

Just because SCI-FI decided to not show anymore doesn't mean they can't find another network to go through and he said as much in other statements I have read.

I for one intend on continuing to support the ###'s.

Hope this helps somewhat or sheds some light.

Unfortunately the contract itself, which brought SG-1 to the SCI FI channel, says otherwise.

In agreeing to transfer SG-1 to the new network, SCI FI included a clause which specifically stated that in the event SCI FI chose to cancel the show the people in charge of SG-1 would be expressly forbidden from transferring it to another network. Essentially, SG-1 would die by SCI FI's hand whenever they were done with it.

Well, they're done with it. And it can't go anywhere else.

But interestingly, Bridge and company will have a nugget of sweet victory, because they don't have to finish the Ori story arc on SCI FI's airtime -- which is something the network wanted. Instead, fans are going to get it on ###

I do sincerely hope that SG-1 is finished. Don't get me wrong, I am a very big fan of the series, but the quality of the eps since season 8 just isn't what it used to be anymore.

I know it's very hard to create original and GOOD stuff after so many stories, but that's all the more reason to put an end to it with season 10. It's been a marvelous 10 years, but imho, it's time to close the curtains and move on to something new.

I would rather just keep the memory of the first 8 awesome years fresh in my memory than having to endure more seasons of mediocre content.

Ah Scepter and hence the third series named differently from SG-1, looks like they've done an Artist formerly known as Prince on SCI-FI channel to get out of the contractual obligation

Could they not take it to another network in another country? (I'm looking at you Space.)

No other network may have SG-1. Besides, it is an American television show, built primarily for an American audience. I just wish we Americans would sit up and take notice of it a bit more.

But is that for the US market only?, as in the UK Sky1 shows us SG-1/Atlantis and gives them prime time air coverage over here playing it at 8-10pm. Also they show reruns daily and for them to do that it must me popular at least over here.

I wish I knew. But if the contract did only refer to the US market, the high-ups I'm sure would have looked into other markets. And if they did, they must have decided that the advertising revenue would be inadequate to support the show. If it wasn't, SkyOne would be getting a Season Eleven soon, wouldn't it?

The only thing that comes to mind is a little quip from the episode "200":

O'Neill: Hey, Marty. Why don't you come with us? Maybe find a little inspiration for the "end" of your little "movie."

Martin: Um…I can't. I just heard from the studio. The movie's been canceled.

O'Neill: Oh, there's some heartbreaking.

Vala: Oh, that's too bad.

Martin: Not for me. They decided to renew the series instead!

Just a lil' wishful thinking, but, ya know

Based on the last episode of season 10, I suspect that the new/next series, will be space ship based. After all it's not like we're getting any new Star Trek episodes, so the void is there to be filled.

The show is called Stargate for a reason... And besides, based on the last episode,
They make specific note of the fact that the Stargate is much better than ship travel... especially given their recent stay.

I'd imagine that the best chance for this show to move on is to kill the SG-1 name and start a new story spin-off from one of the movies.

Those two names are for the 2 movies being made that are meant to finish the 2 main story lines, Ba'al and the Ori.

There is a new show planned though, which is called 'Stargate Universe' for the moment. This show is about the 9th chevron on the gate.

"Continuum" may not finish Baal off completely. Though I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know about that at all. I mean, lets take a look at this. The whole thing about Stargate is that the religions of the world were created by alien cultures. They spent the first 8 years on the Egyptian polytheistic faith. Then the Ori came, a blatant shot at Christianity. The Norse gods were obviously covered by the coolest aliens ever. They are going to wrap up the story line in the movies. Furthermore, they are still screwing with those Egyptian gods with the Baal story line. You can still have something that covers Hindu gods. You most certainly have the Islamic god and his followers. The Aztecs or the Mayans would be good. They have already dipped in the fact that there was a alien presents in south america when Daniel and his scientist friend went looking for the fountain of youth. The presents of the system lord, Yu shows that they have thought about covering the Asian lords. They can keep going on with this forever.

Stargate atlantis is kinda the same way. They kinda touched on a few different things. The big enemy, the wraith, is a play on vampires. They also encountered "the fog" in the episode where they found a way to power an alien gate to open a portal home. They can go on and on with that by giving a new twist to mythical creatures throughout the Pegasus galaxy. A planet of werewolves? They had a nice resurgence of the replicators, that's cool.

Lastly, they can come up with anything they want now
With the death of all the asgard (except hermoid...we won't know anything there until next season) and the giving of all the asgard tech and knowledge and research to the humans, the stargate teams will be able to travel to all the galaxies in the universe.

therefore...they have an infinite amount of possibilities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to come up with a series for stargate time travel. The SG1 team starts to quantum leap and Al helps them out. I don't know

ALways thought the goa'uld used Earth's religios rather than created them. For them to create new religions that would mean they went against their parasitic nature.
